The Sunpilots @Barfly Camden 14/12/12

Good morning everyone, hope you’ve had a nice start in this week!

I’m sitting in my empty flat – only one week left in France – and wait for the transport companies to pick up my stuff. As it can take until 6pm this afternoon – what a lovely way to spend your day – I thought it was a good idea to publish a new article. While I actually decided to never ever drink Tequila again, you’re probably planning the next mad night out in London – remember it’s only 5 days left until the weekend!

My tip for the upcoming Friday is a concert at the Barfly Club in Camden. London based Indie band The MoonJets is headlining the evening, other performing acts include The Colour Movement and my favourites The Sunpilots from Sydney. The Sunpilots play Australian Progressive Rock at its best. After conquering Australia and the US with the successful first album Living Receiver, the band then started changing their Original sound and announced an album different to the first one. Concept album King of the Sugarcoated Tongues was released in 2011 and marks the band’s transition to Progressive Rock. Since late 2010 the band now tours Europe, having performed in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Poland and others. Guten Morgen, hoffe, ihr hattet alle einen schönen Start in diese Woche!

Ich sitze gerade in meiner leer geräumten Wohnung – nur noch eine Woche in Frankreich bleibt mir – und warte auf die beiden Speditionen, die mein Zeug abholen sollen. Das kann sich noch bis 18 Uhr heute Abend hinziehen – was für eine tolle Art, seinen Tag zu verbringen – und deswegen dachte ich mir, es sei eine gute Idee, mal wieder einen neuen Artikel zu veröffentlichen. Während ich mir dieses Wochenende ehrlich gesagt überlegt habe, ganz bestimmt niemals, niemals wieder Tequila zu trinken, plant ihr vielleicht schon eure nächste verrückte Nacht in London – nicht vergessen, sind nur noch 5 Tage bis zum Wochenende!

Mein Tipp für den kommenden Freitag ist ein Konzert im Barfly in Camden, einem besonders für die Live-Musik geschätzten Club auf der Chalk Farm Road, so mehr oder weniger zwischen den Stables und Chalk Farm Station. Die aus London stammende Indie-Band The Moonjets ist als Headliner angekündigt, weitere Acts sind The Colour Movement und meine geliebten Sunpilots aus Sydney. The Sunpilots versprechen australischen Progressive Rock vom Feinsten. Nachdem sie mit dem ziemlich erfolgreichen ersten Album Living Receiver Australien und Nordamerika erobert haben, hat die Band ihren Sound etwas überdacht und ein zweites, vollkommen anderes Album angekündigt. King of the Sugarcoated Tongues erzählt seine eigene Geschichte in acht Kapiteln, wurde 2011 veröffentlicht, übrigens von einem Deutschen zusammengestellt, und markiert den Übergang der Band zum klassischen Progressive Rock. Seit Ende 2010 touren die Musiker nun durch Europa und spielten unter anderem in Deutschland, Österreich, der Schweiz, Frankreich und Polen. Das Album kann man kostenlos auf der Website herunterladen – also hört’s euch an & schaut am Freitagabend mal beim Konzert vorbei!
